What is a stock exchange?

A stock exchange, also sometimes called a share market, facilitates the trading of stocks or other securities while also allowing for the issue and redemption or such securities.

The New York Stock Exchange, operated by NYSE Euronext, Inc., is the most prominent example of a stock exchange in the United States.

EA trims world oil demand, cuts supply forecast
World oil demand will rise at its slowest pace in six years during 2008 as a raft of fuel subsidy cuts in Asia erodes consumption, the International Energy Agency said on Tuesday.
